Simple Business

Yet Again, I sit down to write about being simple and I find myself in the middle of busyness. You would probably laugh if you saw my pile of sticky notes (all reminders of things to do), my to-do lists, and my calendar. While most of my deadlines are self-made, I still feel like I am running around in circles.

But to be truthful, many times the reasons behind me running in circles are because I don't slow down enough. I like activity and many times I keep going when I should stop.

When I take the time to slow down and quiet my soul, I realize what's really important. My relationship with God, Family, and Friends.

Have you gotten so caught up in work and deadlines that you don't have time for what's most important? Why not take some time, slow down, remember what's truly important. Then go make time for the important.

Today I tried to listen for God's voice more, I helped my family, and I even got some things off my to do list. When I do the important, I feel energized to get things done.

God bless, Rose

Simply Fixed, Simply Back

Hello all, my laptop is fixed!
Now I can get back to posting and sharing my simpleness journey with all of you. And since we last spoke, I've done a lot that I look forward to sharing with you.
For now, I want to thank God again for modern media that allows me to connect with all of you.
God bless, Rose

Simply Broken

Okay so I have been writing here on the blog about getting off your laptop and living.
God has a sense of humor because I broke my laptop this week. This forced me to cut down my computer time (as I have to use another laptop to get online) and slow down from my hectic pace.
It's been an interesting week and I didn't realize quite how much a use and depend on my laptop until it was gone.
So while I wait for it to be fixed (thankfully it was just a screen issue) I'm learning to enjoy time with family without a laptop to distract me and hours of time to work on projects that have been neglected.
God is good and He keeps making Himself real in simple, lovely ways.

Simple Winning and Losing

Why do we always have to win? Why do we always need to prove that we are right? Why do we always have to get our way?

The answer is simple. If we win, we think it validates our side. This has led to some of the harshest wars and conflicts of all time.

But what I want to know is, why do Christians think they have to win every political and social battle? Hasn’t God already won the war for us? Hasn’t He already conquered? Why then do we feel the need to win where Christ has already conquered?

Sometimes it is even better to lose in order to love someone completely. And sometimes losing is the best  option.

But I am one to talk, I don’t like losing either. However I do think that sometimes it’s the only way to live in love. God alone has to lead us to the right answer for any given situation.

Don’t be afraid to lose. Those who know how to lose for love win every time.

Simply More

I’ve had people tell me …

“Rose, you should be on Broadway.”

“Rose, you should be a recording artist.”

“Rose, you should be a movie actress.”

You get the picture. People think that I’ve got some talent and they want me to use it.
I know they mean well, but to be honest I have never been interested in working for Hollywood or Broadway. From what I can see the people who go to those places, end up getting sucked into the fake lifestyle and sin. I never wanted to do that. I enjoy acting and playwriting, but not to the point that I would be willing to do anything to have them.

I have always wanted to something more with my life than just be on a movie screen or on a stage. I have wanted from my earliest memories to love my Savoir above all else. I wanted to get to know Him and to follow Him. I wanted to love His people the way He does.

The great thing is that God has given me many opportunities to use my talents in acting and scriptwriting to bless His people. These have been great times. And I thank God for every one of them.

But I know I’ll never be a big name star, because I’m not willing to sacrifice everything else in my life. But you know what? I’m so happy where I am that wouldn’t want to do anything else. God is continually giving me blessings of good friends and opportunities to love.

And I may not be famous down here, but I pray and hope that I am up there.

Simple Randomness

Some random facts about me and some things I’m grateful for.

#1. I was freaking out this week about all that I have to do. But God keeps encouraging me and helping me be calm.

#2. I’m thankful for my family. They love me no matter what.

#3. I have about five books to read on my shelf. Do I have a lot of time? No, but I want to carve out some time to read. I enjoy it.

#4. I like jogging to run off stress and sooth my tense muscles.

#5. I’m thankful for this journey of simplicity. It’s definitely hard to think simple when you have a mound of paperwork on your desk. Or when you feel like your to-do list is never ending. Or when your calendar is filling up fast. But I try to just keep focused on one thing at a time and enjoy what is given to me.

#6. Kittens!

Simple Blessings

Sorry I haven't been around much lately.
I've been busy trying to work on a short film idea and helping my family celebrate their birthdays. :D
My sister Sarah turned 22 last Saturday. She's such a special blessing in my life. I'm a better person because she's here. She's one of my simple blessings.
I'm blessed to have three younger sisters that have birthdays this month. :)
I also blessed to yesterday to celebrate the 23 wedding anniversary of my mom and dad. Having such loving and supportive parents is a simple wonderful blessing.
And I'm blessed that Blogger has a schedule function. It makes my life a lot easier.
