Simply Lovely

As girls we often obsess about beauty. We want to be fashionable (modestly of course). We want to have it, but it many seems to elude us. The perfect outfit won’t come together. The best make-up seems to never work right. We never look as good as the model.
But do we have to? Sometimes I even get stung by this bug. I try to fix my hair just right. I try to be stylish. I try make myself feel beautiful.

Yet beauty doesn’t come from the outside. I’ve seen beauty in an old woman’s eyes and in a small girls hands. Beauty doesn’t come from your outfit or looks. It comes from your heart.
Does that mean we should neglect the outside? No, the outside merely reflects what’s on the inside. So take care of both. Beautify the inside and take care of the outside. Let them both reflect a heart that has been touched by the love of God.

  1. Another nice post, Rose :) I also think it's important to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. I have scars, and for years I covered them up. It's only recently I've accepted them as a part of me. My newest challenge is arthritis. On the worst days, when just showering and dressing is a struggle, things like fussy clothes and hairstyles, make up, heels, and jewelry are forgotten. I still try to look my best, but my idea of fashion has definitely changed!
And then there's the embarrassment of limping or wearing wrist braces in public and trying to handle the looks and rude comments I get (people can be so thoughtless!). I'm still working on that area, but I'm learning to accept that people do not understand arthritis and perhaps never will. I'm very open about the challenge of this disease both in real life and on my blog in the hopes to spread awareness, but ultimately I think I just have to accept that I'm beautiful and worthy the way I am and not let people's ignorance get to me. OK, this comment is longer than your post. Hah!

  2. Ena, your comments can never be too long. I enjoy your thoughts and your insights.

And just so you know, I think you are a beautiful woman for following God's plan for your life and being so open and honest.

I pray that God will strengthen you and be with you for very challenge.

    God bless, Rose
