Simply Enough

When do we ever get enough? Enough books, social appointments, knowledge, ministry projects, blogs to read, money stockpiled, Facebook time, chasing after the perfect body, the latest Christian resource, schooling, craft projects to complete, or food to eat?

When do we ever say enough? When do stop trying to get and rest in what we have? When do I say “I am content. I need no more.” When my soul is filled with Him, this world has no appeal for me. He helps me to say, “I have enough.”

Simple Thinking

I tend to over think things. I want to know all the reasons. I want to have all the answers. I want to have everything down to a science.

But I am not meant to know all the answers. I can’t grasp everything. My human mind can’t understand all the ways of God.
But I can trust. I can look to God and know that even though I don’t know all the answers, I can be content in what He shows me today. That will be enough.

Simple Enjoyment

Nature is such a precious gift. Don’t let the worlds busy pace rob you of the enjoyment of this lovely gift.
It’s spring. The flowers are coming up. The weather is getting warmer. Take a moment to enjoy it.

Simple Dreams

Daydreaming is often discouraged today. We are so busy trying to work on the present task or jumping to the next one, that we don’t take time to think about what the future could hold.

There are so many possibilities. There are so many things that You can do for God.
So dream. Dream about what God might call you to do. Dream about the plans that God has for you. Dream about our home beyond this world.

Simple Moments

Live in the moment that you are given. Don’t let your mind (unless you are daydreaming. More on that in a few days) wonder. Refocus on what is right in front of you. Put your whole heart and soul into it. Live in the moment.

Simple Tender Love

God loves you completely, openly, and tenderly.
Do you believe this? In your heart of hearts do you know that He gets ecstatic over YOU? Do you know that He can’t wait for you to get out of bed in the morning and that He enjoys hearing your voice?
If this isn’t a reality for you ask God to make His simple, overflowing, deep, abounding love near to you.

Simple Honesty

Speak honestly to everyone. If you haven’t said “I love you” to your family in a while, take a few moments to tell them so.
Don’t flatter someone that you dislike. Ask God to help you show them kindness from the heart.
Let your conversation always be full of grace. And don’t keep thoughts and  feelings to yourself. When someone asks “how are you?” answer them with whatever is on your heart.
Honesty is a great gift. Use it well.

Simple Living

Simple living doesn’t have anything to do with the amount of things you do. What counts is how you do what you do. I can have few things on my calendar and still do them with a mean attitude.
No matter what you do today, ask God to give you a spirit of kindness in which to do them.

Simpleness

For this first month I’m going to be talking about how to simplify your spiritual, mental, and physical life.
Many times (especially in my own life) I find that I over-think my spiritual life. Instead of just accepting what God has said to me, I ask questions, I wonder, I try to figure it all out, I make excuses, and I give my own interpretation of what God has said.
The problem is that God calls me to simply accept what He says. And what does He tell me? “I have loved you with an everlasting love. You are my Child. I am God Almighty. Maker and creator of all things. I am gracious and compassionate.”
Let these words soak into your heart and mind. Don’t try to overthink this. Just accept this. Just take a deep breath and let God speak.

Simple Thoughts

In today's world, everything seems to be going at a breakneck pace. We barely have enough time to keep ahead of the craziness as we try to stay on top (or get there). We spend all of our waking hours working, thinking, planning, managing, trying to relax, do the right thing, and make the best of what we are given.
This is thinking that far too often invades my thoughts and takes me captive. “You have to be the best you can be.” It entices. “You have to figure everything out. You have to make your mark on the world.” But God calmly and gently reminds me of who I am. “You are my daughter. My chosen one. My beloved. You don’t have to be anything special for me to love you. I already know everything. Let me reveal to you my greater plan bit by bit. Just let me show you. Don’t try to figure it all out or think that you have to be someone you aren’t. Just let me love you and follow my call for your life.”
This is His call to all of us. A call to leave the rat race. A call to live simply for Him. A call to simply follow God wherever He takes us. A call to let God love us and live in the moment. A call to be still and know that He is God.

On this blog I hope to encourage you to live out this radical call. It might mean that I (and you) will have to change my lifestyle to follow this call. It might mean that you have to give up things that you enjoy and care about. But isn’t it worth it? Think of going to bed at night content with what you did. Think of having an inner core of peace that is never disturbed by outward circumstances. Think of having the kind of relationship with God where He was your best and most loving friend. Think about knowing in your heart all the knowledge that you have in your mind. Think of living the life that you have always wanted to live.
Are you ready? Then let us begin.
Every day on this blog I will post a thought for you to dwell on. A little something to get you thinking about living a simple life for Him. I pray that you will be challenged to go out and live it for Him.
For now I want you to think about this call. Let God’s words sink into your mind and heart.

I’ll see you in a few days,  Rose H.
